Today Google released version 2 of its Google Maps API. Features include:

• A smaller JavaScript download, which should improve performance
• Increased satellite resolution in several countries and large cities
• A debugging log
• Fewer memory leaks
• An extendable map class for creating overlays, custom controls, and custom map types

I look forward to trying it.
